We worked in groups to follow a recipe to make pancakes. When we had made the mix, Christine helped us cook them. Our pancake mix made 6 pancakes. We worked out what ingredients and how much mixture we would need to make a pancake for everyone in the class and then for everyone in the year group – it really made our brains ache! We had pancake races and enjoyed eating the pancakes we didn’t drop! Year 4 were brilliant down in Guildford High Street where we cheered on others and participated in the annual pancake races. We have been finding out about Shrove Tuesday and why people eat pancakes.
Year 5 delivered their own lessons to teach Year 3 all about the Earth, Moon and Sun and how we get day, night and seasons. They enjoyed preparing the lessons and spending time with Year 3 but found it harder than they had expected!
Although we were unable to do the 3 Peaks for this FLUFFY, we braved the elements and had a beautiful winter walk, all around the nature reserve near Spectrum and enjoyed a well earned hot chocolate when we returned to school.
