HTPD 27/4/18

27 April 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s been a great day today. I’m just coming out of role after being Dr Brunet, the evacuee’s billeting officer at the end of the Year 3 children’s World War II walk around Guildford. Looking at myself in the mirror made me feel like my grandmother who had to be evacuated herself just before the birth of my mother. What a dreadful time that must have been and I’m so glad our own children can grow up in safe and loving homes, surrounded by reassuring familiarity. I was so impressed by the parents who joined in with the role play today – some of the children really were caught up in the make believe and looked quite worried!

As a staff, we are working hard at the moment to make sure that all of our topics are as well planned as they can be. We’ve been making sure that as children move through the school, they are taught progressively more challenging lessons and that their knowledge is extended year on year. We’ve been looking at all the different activities and identifying where things can be improved. It’s been a very positive and detailed project and we hope next year’s topics are better than ever!

The summer extracurricular clubs are now underway at both the infants and juniors. Together with our broad and balanced curriculum, we know that these opportunities help to develop the whole child. Socialising with different children, working with adults other than your class teacher and trying out new skills are just some of the benefits of taking part in a club. Do encourage your child, if they’ve not already signed up, to try something new this term.

With be
st wishes
