HTPD 21/7/17

21 July 2017

Dear Parents,

Another great year draws to a close! The international days at the start of this final week were really successful and I hope it encouraged all our families with links overseas that we love the diversity of our international community – the children enjoyed learning through music, dance, food, art and song about a huge range of different countries. Our leavers have finished well and will move on with so many memories of “learning to live” at Holy Trinity Pewley Down. We wish them all every success in their new schools. Thank you so much for all your encouragement and support throughout the year, but especially in these last few days. It was lovely to share the end of year celebrations with so many of you at our Celebration Afternoon – thank you for coming!

Thank you as well for your generosity to all the teachers. Your kind gifts and best wishes are always much appreciated! I know that Patrick, Jo, Sam and Maggie in particular feel so grateful to you for making their last week at HTPD so memorable. I hope that they, like all our leavers, will look back with fondness on the time they’ve spent at the school. As Katie Thomas, Holy Trinity’s curate reminded us at our end of year service, we remain a part of the school community even when our paths take us into new adventures. I hope you all have a fantastic summer break and we look forward to welcoming you back to school on Tuesday 5th September.

With best wishes

Thank You
A big thank you to everyone who has helped out with FOPS this year. From all our hardworking class reps, volunteers and families who have supported the various events and sales - we couldn't have done it without you! Together we have raised in excess of £9,000 and have funded a wide range of teaching resources and equipment including the rejuvenated outdoor classrooms and essential maths, science and English equipment. Next year sees an ongoing commitment from FOPS to develop the Early Years provision at school - so definitely exciting times ahead!

New FOPS Committee Needed
We are looking for a new chair or a small group of chair persons to take over running FOPS from September. Can YOU help? It’s a great opportunity to get involved with the school community, raise funds, organise social events and make great changes for all our children a reality. With educational budgets tightening the fund raising role of the PTA is becoming more and more vital so please consider it carefully. To find out more please email Jill, Nicci or Sue or nab us for a chat. We are also on the lookout for new class reps. Please advise your current reps if you would like to take on this role next year.

FOPS Sponsor
Please don’t forget Cavender Sales & Lettings in Guildford (our major sponsor now for the third year running) will donate £250 to the school if you decide to rent your property through them or if you sell a property through them, they will donate £500. So if you are thinking about either, please get in contact with them

Save the Date
FOPS AGM and Meet the Team evening 12 September at 7pm in the school hall

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped out this year whether it was by coming along to events, helping to organise the events, being a class rep or part of the HTSC committee. We have had a great year and organised some fantastic events, with our initial estimates showing that we have raised just over £22,500. Thank you everyone!

A special mention must go to the amazing Year 6 fundraising team who raised a staggering £2,700 towards the Year 6 leavers' activities.

Class Reps
We are urgently seeking class reps for ALL YEARS next year.

There are usually two reps per class who provide the vital link between the class and HTSC. The support from this team of volunteers is particularly important when it comes to organising our main events, as the HTSC really wouldn’t function without them. We always love to see new faces and hear new ideas. We aim to have 6 class reps in each year group - ideally at least 2 per class. The class reps in each year group work together as a team sharing the class rep responsibilities and organising socials for each year group as a whole.

If you would like further information, please contact Ros Vickerman, or Carrie Witts,

Goodbye and Thank You
We would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye and a massive thank-you to Jo Burne our current HTSC secretary. Jo has been a brilliant secretary for the last year and a fantastic part of the HTSC team.

A huge thanks also to Mame French for her excellent management of the Sainsbury's scheme and to Tammi and Farah for their fantastic hard work organising the HT uniform shop – we will miss all of them!

HTSC Sponsor
A massive thanks to Cavender Sales & Lettings in Guildford, our major sponsor now for the third year running. Cavenders will donate £250 to the school if you decide to rent your property through them or if you sell a property through them, they will donate £500. So, if you are thinking about doing either over the summer, please get in contact with them
