Dear Parents and Carers,

And so we arrive at the end of another year – I hope that your children had a great day today. They certainly deserve a restful summer break, as do our amazing teaching team!

I’ve just arrived home after the Year 6 leavers’ barbeque and disco – what a lovely summer’s evening spent wishing our Year 6 children on their way. They are certainly well placed for a move on to secondary school and we all felt confident that they are “embracing the future with hope and confidence”. They have been a remarkable year group, attaining high SATS scores, winning copious sports awards, achieving excellence in music, art, dance and drama, singing with enthusiasm, particularly in church this week, and demonstrating to the younger children how to live life to the full! We will miss them all.

sports review of the year. Written by Laura Sutton and Nick Walker it summarises all the sporting successes of 2017-18. I’m delighted to announce that once again we’ve been awarded the Gold Award School Games Mark! What an excellent way to finish off the year!

Finally, thank you all for your good wishes, kind words and generous gifts to our staff team. We have all been so touched by your generosity and appreciation. Thank you!

For those families that are moving on, we wish you well and hope that your memories of happy times at HTPD live long into the future. For those still with us next year, we look forward to welcoming you back to school on Thursday 6th September. Until then, enjoy a wonderful summer holiday!

All the staff would like to say a very big ‘thank you’ for your generosity (gifts, cakes, cards …) this week – but especially Julia who leaves us today and has greatly appreciated your good wishes.

‘Run to Rio’ update
We have made it to Pyeongchang, running over 5,500 miles! We celebrated in assembly today with the 3 boys and 3 girls from each class who ran the furthest receiving medals. Well done for everyone’s amazing efforts!

And so we reach the end of another fantastic year! We would like to thank all of you for everything you have done to support our wonderful school this year whether it’s been buying a cake or volunteering at an event!

Thanks to your commitment and generosity we have raised nearly £15,000 from:
Events: Christmas and Summer Fairs, Disco, Bake ‘n’ Stroll, Ball, Fun Run
Initiatives: Phil the Bag and Easy Fundraising
Sales: cakes and lollies, school uniform, Christmas cards, DVDs, photos and tote bags.

Thanks to everyone who has been involved in any way as this is truly a team effort.

The reason for raising the money is of course to spend it! This year the majority has been spent on purchasing fabulous new smart boards. So far we have paid for four at a cost of £11,550. We’ve also been able to fund treats for the children such as the Christmas Show, Bedtime story, curriculum resources and we contributed to the Year 2 leavers BBQ and party.

If we are to continue raising money for our school then we urgently NEED some new committee members.

A chairperson or chair-people! Please have a think if you and some friends can take on this incredibly rewarding role. The current committee have promised to be on standby to answer questions and help out as much as possible. If you’d like an informal chat about what the role involves, please contact Laura: laurasabster@yahoo.co.uk (ABSOLUTELY NO PRESSURE!!)

Class reps: thanks to those who have already been in touch about being class reps next year but we need more across all classes. This is a great way of meeting new people and getting involved with our events and activities. Most people will have a turn at being rep at some point during their time at Pewley so make this your year! No previous experience needed! To register interest with no need to commit, contact laurasabster@yahoo.co.uk



A huge thank you to everyone who has helped out this year whether it was by coming along to events, helping to organise the events, being a class rep or part of the HTSC committee.

We have crunched the numbers and are delighted to announce that the total amount raised this year is a spectacular £27,000!

A special mention must go to the Year 6 fundraising team who raised a fabulous £2,200 towards the Year 6 leavers' activities.

Class Reps
We are urgently seeking class reps for ALL YEARS next year and, in particular, for years 4 and 6. Go on you know you want to!

We aim to have 6 class reps in each year group - ideally at least 2 per class. If you would like further information or to volunteer your services, please contact Ros Vickerman, rosalindvickerman@yahoo.com.

New HTSC chair or co-chairs needed!

We are looking for a new chair or co-chairs to take over running HTSC from September as the current chairs are all leaving the school/stepping down. Can you help? It’s a great opportunity to get involved with the school community, raise funds, organise social events and make a real difference to the educational possibilities offered by the school.

HTSC AGM – Thursday 13 September 7.45pm
HTSC’s AGM will take place in the Chapel on Thursday 13 September straight after the HT meet the team evening. We will be approving this year’s accounts and electing the new committee members for the next academic year.

Walking 26 miles to raise money for HT – Surrey Hills Challenge
Katie Ealden, 4R, is going to walk the full marathon (26 miles/42.2 km) organised by the Surrey Hills Challenge on Sunday 23rd September. It will be a long and hilly trek with 1272.8 metres of climb and Katie has to finish within ten hours. Please support Katie https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/ditastaton1. Every pound counts! And it’s goodbye from us…..
We would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye and a massive thank-you to Andrea Dundas our current HTSC treasurer. Andrea has been a fantastic treasurer for the past three years and a brilliant part of the HTSC team.

Finally, and by no means least, a phenomenal thanks to my brilliant fellow co-chairs, Carrie and Jane for an amazing three years as chairs of HTSC. It’s been an unforgettable experience which I wouldn’t have missed for the world – THANK YOU!
