Infant 5/6/15

05 June 2015

Dear Parents

The power of the computer and the internet, with instant communication and information is an invention and state of being which future thinkers could not imagine fifty years ago. It has changed our life – it is a wonder and wonderful. Of course like many powerful tools and new products it can be used for harm or have harmful side effects.

On Tuesday 16 June we have a visit from Rob Ellis who is going to speak to parents and then staff about
e-safety and associated issues; I will send a flyer out giving more details early next week. The parents’ session starts at 2pm and will last one hour. I hope many of you will be able to attend.

Clare, Debbie and Helen have put together an outstanding team for the next academic year. The teachers are:
Year R Sian Stanley & Frances Clixby/Nicola Bridal
Year 1 Sheena Preston & Sarah MacKenzie
Year 2 Patrick Davies & Emily Russell/Maggie Burgess
Year 3 Alison Tester, Claire Cruddas & Julia (JJ) Blackstock
Year 4 Julia Grocott, James Wyatt & Jo Marsden
Year 5 Ginnie Gregory, Nick Walker & Sarah Mistry
Year 6 Sarah Davies/Mary Booth, Tom Everard & Helen Campbell

Gillian Trumble will be moving back to the HT site and will be working predominantly in Year 5.

I look forward to hearing of the successes of this team and of course all our great children.

With best wishes, Richard

Healthy Week, Monday 15 June onwards
We are very excited about our Healthy Week which begins on 15 June. All of the children will be doing two physical activities every day, they will be thinking about what we need to do to be fit and healthy and making kites that we will try to fly on the Downs! We will also be having special visitors. Please can you ensure that your child wears their PE kit and, most importantly, well-fitting trainers every day. Many thanks.

Friendship letters
You should have received a letter in the children’s book bags about which friends they would most like to be with next year. Please complete and return these by Monday 8 June as it really helps the teachers to create the best fit for next year.

Recycle Challenge
This week Recycle Man has challenged Beech Class to use fabric (eg an old t-shirt or a sock to make a puppet) to create something fun or useful. Please bring your creations into school on Thursday or Friday.
