HTPD 16/6/17

16 June 2017

Dear parents

It was quite a feat of organisation, arranging 564 children and over 70 adults onto a 7-tier staging in the summer sunshine, but the photography crew managed it effortlessly! Across the whole school, this 3-yearly event caused great excitement – with plenty of siblings enjoying being in the same shot, and at least one family represented across 4 different year groups! It was great to have an occasion to bring both the infants and juniors together and I’m looking forward to viewing the resulting image. It will go up on display at both schools and for me it will make a lovely memory of my first whole school photo as headteacher.

The weather is certainly warming up now, so can I encourage you to make sure your children wear sun cream and bring in a hat. That’s particularly important for the Year 6 children as they head off to Shropshire on their residential next week. Maybe give your child a quick lesson in how to make sure the cream goes on everywhere it needs to!

When Year 6 return from their time away, they’re keen to do some work for the school: Tom would love to hear from anyone who has business connections so that he can ask the children to write letters to any likely companies who are contemplating some IT upgrades. If you know of any offices about to clear out any computer equipment (monitors, machines, keyboards, etc) we’d love to hear from you so that you can receive a request from the children for the generous donation of your old kit. We’d love to give it a new home!

Together with some governors, our senior leadership team had a fantastic strategic planning morning earlier this week, drafting ideas for our new school development plan. We looked through all the responses from the parent survey, as well as considering the reflections of staff and children too. It was great to have such useful feedback to use as a springboard. It’s been an exciting year, and there’s still a lot to enjoy as the summer term moves along. I’m sure we’ll see you in school at one event or another. Thanks for your continued involvement in the life of the school.

Best wishes
