HTPD 9/6/17

09 June 2017

Dear Parents,

As the Year 4 campers return home from a fantastic time at Bentley Copse, and as Healthy Week comes to an end at the infants, I’m sure this weekend will be one of rest and relaxation! The staff have worked so hard this week, together with plenty of parent helpers to ensure a broad, full curriculum where children are given so many opportunities to “Learn to Live”. As the camp fire songs ended last night and the children reflected on their day, their over-riding thoughts were of community, team work, relying on one another and finding joy in every moment. I’m struck by their wisdom as the country looks forward to an uncertain few days!

I’m excited to announce next year’s teaching teams. We’re already looking forward to September, with the arrival of the new reception children due to visit the school next week and the Year 3 teachers spending some time at our feeder infant schools. Next year will look like this:

Year R Sheena Preston Frances Clixby/ Rebecca Plaistowe
Year 1 Claire Cruddas Georgie Furlonger
Year 2 Emily Russell Sarah McKenzie
Year 3 Alison Tester Sue Miller Toby Strutt
Year 4 James Wyatt Rachel Tolhurst Sarah Jackson
Year 5 Laura Hanley Nick Walker Catherine Hawkins
Year 6 Tom Everard Helen Campbell JJ Blackstock

We will also continue to have a number of part time staff working across the school. Please allow us to consider the best fit for each child, taking into account the huge number of important factors in ensuring a smooth transition in September. Any comments should be directed to me rather than to your child’s current teacher.

Given the current financial climate, can I ask you all to keep an eye on any school bills – the finance team really do need monies for trips, lunches, and PUPS/ Clubs+ to be paid in a timely way. Please keep your accounts in credit rather than running up a bill. Thank you so much for your support!

Finally I’m pleased to report back on the parent survey. I hope the
attached summary is an interesting read. We will be using all the individual comments to continue to make the school even more successful! Thank you so much to all those who took part - it has been so encouraging to see how positive the feedback was this year!

Do have a good weekend!
With best wishes

Golden Boot Challenge
As mentioned in the recent ParentMail, we are again taking part in the Surrey County Council Golden Boot Challenge designed to encourage greener ways of travelling to school such as walking, scooting or parking further away and then walking. The children’s usual mode of travel was recorded on the ‘baseline day’ before half term, and we will now be asking them how they come to school on Friday 9, 16, 23 and 30 June. The class with highest ‘green scores’ will win the Golden Boot trophy.
